Cookies and ads
Last updated 27 September 2026.
The short version
This website only uses cookies for measuring visits and ads if you press Accept on the banner. If you press No thanks, the only thing stored is your answer. You can change your mind at any time with the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
What cookies are
Small files a website stores in your browser, so it can recognise the same browser later. Pixels and web beacons do a similar job: they let a website tell another company that a page was visited.
What this website uses
| Name | From | What it does | How long | When |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| latus_consent | Latus | Remembers whether you pressed Accept or No thanks, so we do not ask again. Kept in your browser, never sent anywhere. | Until you clear it | Always |
| _ga, _ga_ followed by an ID | Google Analytics | Tells visits apart, to count visitors and see which pages they read. | Up to 2 years | Only if you accept |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Works out whether a visit came from one of our Google ads and led to an enquiry. | About 90 days | Only if you accept |
| _fbp, _fbc | Meta | Works out whether a visit came from one of our Facebook or Instagram ads, and lets Meta show our ads to people who have visited. | About 90 days | Only if you accept |
The names and times are the ones Google and Meta use at the time of writing, and they can change them.
Google Analytics
If you accept, we use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where they come from. Google collects this through cookies and processes it on its own systems. How Google uses it is explained at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Ads on Google, Facebook and Instagram
If you accept, we use Google Ads and the Meta pixel. This means we, and third parties including Google and Meta, use cookies, pixels and web beacons to collect information from this website and elsewhere on the internet. Google, Meta and other third party vendors use it to measure our ads, and to show our ads to you on other websites and apps based on your past visits to this one.
To stop ads based on your visits, you can: turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings; change your ad preferences on Facebook; use the industry opt out pages at aboutads.info, networkadvertising.org and youronlinechoices.eu; or press No thanks in our cookie settings.
Overseas
Google and Meta are based in the United States and use this information for their own purposes as well as ours. They may not be required to protect it in a way that, overall, gives safeguards comparable to New Zealand's Privacy Act. Pressing Accept means you agree to this. See our privacy statement.
The newsletter form
The landlord updates form at the bottom of each page is provided by MailerLite, which loads its own script so the form works. Your email address only goes to MailerLite if you tick the box and press Subscribe. See MailerLite's privacy policy.
